Lower Heidelberg Township church to honor veterans [Religion Digest]

Nov. 12—Editor's note: Beginning on Dec. 3, in order to be listed in the religion digest, there must be something significant about the worship service, such as special music or a guest speaker. We will continue to list events such as concerts, lectures, food sales or other fundraisers, Bible studies or prayer services that fall on a day other than Sunday. We will not simply list the time a service is being held.

—St. John's (Hain's) United Church of Christ, 591 N. Church Rd., Lower Heidelberg Township, will honor veterans during the worship service on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Retired Lt. Col. Dale Derr will be the guest speaker. Special music will include a bagpiper and a solo by Kelly Miller entitled "Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory." The Chancel Choir will offer the anthem "Hark I Hear the Harps Eternal" arranged by Mark Hayes.

—Schwarzwald Lutheran Church, 250 Church Lane Road, Exeter Township, will hold in-person worship on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and will honor veterans.

—St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 Front St. Plaza, Mohnton, is having a WELCA Thankoffering Service on Sunday at 10 a.m. featuring Piercing Word, a theatrical performance group whose text is directly from Bible scripture. The performance is called "Stewardship: A Biblical perspective on how to use our God given resources." Livestream will be available on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/stjohnmohntonchurch. A free will offering will be taken.

—Calvary United Church of Christ,1231 Route 100, Barto, will hold its annual holiday craft bazaar next Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. including a bake sale, basket raffle and indoor flea market. —Kissinger's Church, 715 Berkshire Blvd., Wyomissing, will present a gospel concert by R-Creation USA during the 10:15 a.m. worship service on Sunday. There will be an Hour of Prayer on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The public is invited to attend to submit prayer requests and to pray for others.

—Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Barto, will worship on Sunday at 9 a.m. Quilts made by the congregation will be blessed. A congregational meeting will be held after the service. Confirmation class students will meet at 11 a.m. in room I.

—St. Peter's United Church of Christ of Molltown, 219 Maidencreek Road, Richmond Township, will feature music by the Reading A Cappella Voices at its 10:15 a.m. worship service on Sunday.

—Bausman United Church of Christ, 1064 Penn Ave., Wyomissing will be selling homemade pies, apple crumb, lemon sponge and pumpkin, for Thanksgiving. Cost $10 per pie. Order by Friday at www.bausmanucc.org or call 610-375-9790. Pick up on Nov. 21 and 22 between 5 and 7 p.m.

—St. Andrew's United Church of Christ, 1320 Spruce St., Reading, will be holding a fall food sale today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Homemade beef vegetable soup, chili, hamburger barbecue, hot dogs, apple dumplings, shoo-fly pies, apple crumb pies, pumpkin pies, beverages and other assorted baked goods, will be available for purchase to eat in and/or take out.

—St. John's Gernant's Church (A Federated Congregation), 13 Gernant's Church Road, Ontelaunee Township, will worship Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the church, with Holy Communion. The Women's Chorus will perform "God's Hand Holds Each Tomorrow." Musician for the service will be Fern Kulp.

—Reformation Lutheran Church, 3670 Perkiomen Ave., Exeter Township, will worship at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, both with Holy Communion. The 10:30 service will be livestreamed on Reformation's Facebook page and may be viewed live or later at www.Reformationlutheran.org under worship videos. Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:30. Members and friends of Reformation will participate in PennDot's Adopt-A-Highway program by picking up litter on a 2-mile stretch of Perkiomen Avenue today beginning at 9 a.m.

—St. John's Lutheran Church, 45 N. Reading Ave., Boyertown, will hold worship on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Livestreamed worship continues on YouTube (St. John's ELC Boyertown). —The United Church of Christ in Robesonia will worship at 301 W. Penn Ave. at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, by YouTube, in person, by Facebook and by telephone. People who have died in the past year will be honored. After the service, St. Paul's and Zion will vote to decide whether or not to become one congregation. Fellowship time will be held after the meeting. Bible study will be held on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The St. Paul's Christmas bazaar will be held next Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with lunch being served throughout that time. —Christ Episcopal Church, 435 Court St., Reading, will hold one worship service on Sunday morning at 10 a.m., with music and Holy Eucharist. followed by a reception for Deacon Midge Pendergast, who will be leaving Christ Church for a new assignment. At 9 in the parlor, adult forum will feature "Asset Mapping," presented by vestry members Chris Spohn and Pam Wheat. Masks are optional. Parking is available at the Abe Lincoln Hotel parking garage and the M&T Bank lot, both located off of Washington St. Parking is also available beside the church on Court St. for those with disabilities or who need assistance. —Friedens United Church of Christ, 337 Main St., Oley, will offer both in-person service and participation via Zoom and YouTube on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. Sunday school for children returns this week. Sandy Patton will be the guest musician. Friedens holiday bazaar will be held next Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. with homemade soups, potato filling, cookies, pies, etc., available to eat in or take out.
