Lower Merion Is Nation's 2nd Best Work From Home Town: Money Mag

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Across the nation, homes have been turned into offices as numerous businesses and companies shift to teleworking amid the coronavirus pandemic.

And according to Money Magazine, some towns in the United States are better for working from home.

The publication recently released a list of "The 10 Best Places to Live if You Work From Home."

To draft the list, Money Magazine looked at cost of living, safety, and quality of education, share of residents that worked from home pre-pandemic, space to give everyone a room to themselves, access to necessities like daycare facilities and pharmacies, and sufficient internet connection.

With those factors considered, the magazine listed Lower Merion Township as the nation's second best place to live while working from home.

According to the magazine, Lower Merion is "a family-friendly community with great public schools and charming local establishments."

The magazine touted education options such as Bryn Mawr College and St. Joseph’s University, the number of restaurants (5 per 1,000 people), accessibility to parks, and proximity to Philadelphia and all its attractions.

One thing that is a sort-of strike against the township is the home prices, which have a median value of $500,000. However, the publication reports the prices are made up for by high-earning residents.

"In an index measuring resident income against the cost of living, Lower Merion scored better than the other cities on this list," Money Magazine wrote.

As for the No. 1 spot, Money Magazine gave that honor to Reston, VA.
