Lowe's opens its first Ohio outlet store in Chapel Hill Plaza

Chapel Hill Plaza has a new tenant, the first store of its kind in Ohio.

Lowe's Outlet Store opened in early October; the Cuyahoga Falls location is one of the home improvement chain's 14 outlet stores in the nation. The store features new items that have minor to moderate damage, discontinued and slightly used items.

Kimberly Snow, the Lowe’s Outlet store manager, said Lowe's started opening its outlet stores about four years ago.

"It's been fun," said Snow of the opening of the new outlet store. She added that business has been brisk.

Snow said items come from five suppliers in the region, and the new Chapel Hill store is central to those suppliers. The items for sale do not come from Lowe's stores directly.

Items that can be seen throughout the store include washers, dryers, riding mowers, grills, refrigerators, microwaves and more.

The Lowe's Outlet includes warranty options, with delivery, and haul-away options available, Snow said. Patrons with a Lowe's credit card can use the cards at the outlet store as well.

However, those looking for a discounted appliance or other items must come to the store directly, Snow added. Online purchases are not available for the outlet store, and items can't be ordered to the outlet. Those services, Snow said, must be done through the regular Lowe's retail stores.

"Every day we get new stuff," Snow said.
