Loxahatchee man killed when ATV overturns after entering large puddle of water

LOXAHATCHEE — A 45-year-old Loxahatchee man was killed Saturday night after he was thrown from the all-terrain vehicle he was driving and sustained fatal injuries, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Harry Ray Skinner was driving a 2020 Suzuki King Quad southbound in the 4900 block of 200 Trail North at about 7:45 p.m. when he approached a large puddle of water in the roadway, deputies said.

A second 2020 Suzuki King Quad traveling southbound directly behind Skinner attempted to overtake the first ATV as it entered the puddle, but then overturned, ejecting both of its passengers.

Skinner's ATV then also overturned, ejecting him onto the road surface, deputies said. He sustained facial and head injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of the second ATV, 57-year-old Tammy Rubio of Wellington, sustained minor injuries. Her passenger, Cori McHugh, 31, also of Wellington, was unhurt, according to the crash report.
