LPD investigating man's death after a Halloween argument

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Seventy-three-year-old Mark Belange died Saturday, possibly from a head injury he received about 8:55 p.m. Oct. 31 from a shove near his home in the 500 block of Bellingham Avenue.

Belange and a man in his 20s argued, and the man shoved Belange to the ground, according to Lafayette police, who indicated there were no punches and kicks thrown in the argument.

Belange suffered a head injury according to police.

The incident appears in the Nov. 1 Lafayette police bulletins as a simple battery.

Tippecanoe County Coroner Carrie Costello said an autopsy is planned for Tuesday. As of Monday, there is no cause of death or manner of death.

Detectives are again investigating the incident in the wake Belange's death.
