LAFAYETTE, Ind. — New faces were added to the Lafayette School Corporation (LSC) board as well as to the staff of Tecumseh Junior High School at Monday evening's LSC meeting.

An additional board member was sworn in at Monday night's evening. Lafayette citizen Allison McKay was officially appointed to the board at the beginning of the evening. This appointment came after weeks of discussion between McKay and members of LSC.

"I was able to meet with community members that are in the district that's open and learn about the position," McKay said, "and then I came in and met with our board president and the superintendent and ask questions of them, they asked questions of me. I was able to meet with the other board members just to sort of explain my interest in it and what their goals were.

"...I feel great. I'm excited. I'm a little nervous, this is a new venture for me. But I am really excited to serve the children of our community."

The role of vice president was vacant on the LSC board Monday as well. As such, it was voted and approved to elevate former secretary Stephen Bultinck to the position. Following this, the job of secretary was open. Former board member David Moulton was voted to assume the role of secretary. Bultinck and Moulton will hold these positions until December 2022, according to LSC superintendent Les Huddle.

Due to the overturning of multiple positions throughout LSC, three assistant principal positions became open for applicants. At Monday's meeting, Julie Schmidt-Goecker, Leo Leffert and Jeremy Rodibaugh were approved to fulfill those positions at Tecumseh Junior High School.

"We actually hired a new principal," Dr. Laurie Rinehart, director of secondary education for LSC, said, "because the former principal, Mr. Hawkins, is moving to central office to be the director of human resources. So then, we had another assistant principal move into a head principal's position...Another assistant principal transferred to the high school. And then a third assistant principal transferred back to closer to her home.

Just lots of transitions, but an excellent opportunity to start fresh with a new administrative team. So we're really excited."
