LSU baseball hires Josh Jordan as recruiting coordinator and assistant coach

Jay Johnson's on-field staff is once again full.

LSU announced the hire of Josh Jordan as the team's recruiting coordinator and assistant coach. Jordan held the same position at Duke since 2015, helping guide the Blue Devils to program firsts, an NCAA regional appearance in 2016, a super regional appearance in 2018 and an ACC Tournament championship in 2021.

“When we started this search, it was my goal to find one of the best recruiters in all of college baseball," Johnson said in a school release. "We have accomplished that and much more in bringing Josh to LSU. His work ethic, character, player relationship building, evaluation skills, and ability to connect make him second to none. Josh is also an elite developer of catchers and a great on-the-field coach.

"Our current and future players are immediately better by having Josh as a part of our program.”

A former National Assistant Coach of the Year award recipient, Jordan replaces Dan Fitzgerald, who left Baton Rouge June 16 to take the head coaching position at Kansas.

During his 10-year stint at Duke, Jordan helped recruit and develop 33 former players into MLB Draft picks, 12 of those being taken in the first 10 rounds.
