LSU baseball pitcher Javen Coleman to start vs. UL on Tuesday

BATON ROUGE – LSU baseball left-handed pitcher Javen Coleman will start for the Tigers against UL on Tuesday (6:30 p.m., SEC Network+), a source confirmed to The Advertiser.

Coleman, a redshirt sophomore, has been recovering from Tommy John surgery and has not pitched in a game since Feb. 23, 2022 against Louisiana Tech. However, he did warm up in the bullpen during Friday and Saturday's games against Kentucky.

He was a key piece to LSU's bullpen in 2021 when he allowed just one earned run in six innings of work against Oregon in the Eugene Regional, making the 2021 NCAA Eugene Regional All-Tournament team for his exploits.

Coleman had a 5.79 ERA as a freshman in 2021, allowing no more than a run in all but one of his final seven appearances. He also started in two games that season against Texas Southern and Nicholls State.

Four days prior to suffering his injury, Coleman allowed one earned run in three innings pitched against Maine.
