LSU baseball score vs. Tennessee: Live updates from showdown of top MLB prospects
BATON ROUGE – After tight wins on Thursday and Friday, No. 1 LSU baseball will look to sweep Tennessee in Game 3 of its series with the Volunteers on Saturday (1 p.m., SEC Network).
The Tigers (24-3, 6-2 SEC) defeated the Volunteers 6-4 on Friday and 5-2 on Thursday.
Tennessee (20-8, 3-5) ‒ the No. 9 team in the nation according to the USA TODAY Coaches Poll – held a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning on Friday. But back-to-back home runs from Brady Neal and Gavin Dugas handed the lead back to the Tigers.
LSU starter Ty Floyd got through five innings but struggled to keep the ball in the ballpark, surrendering all four runs on three home runs. But he pitched well enough to allow freshmen relievers Chase Shores and Griffin Herring to close out the game.
Shores and Herring combined to strike out six batters while not allowing a hit in four innings pitched.
