LSU baseball student section throws beer cans and bottles on field versus Tennessee

Following a Jordan Thompson three-RBI double against top-10 league-rival Tennessee, the LSU baseball student section's celebration spilled out of the stands with beer cans and bottles thrown onto the field.

Thompson's double gave LSU a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth in the weekend series opener at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge. The Tigers set an attendance record with 13,068 fans packing into the stadium for Game 1. The game was slightly delayed as the trash had to be cleaned up and luckily no one was hit by the debris being tossed.

The Tigers (23-3) would win Game 1, 5-2 over the Volunteers (20-7) and stop a six-game losing streak to Tennessee. Paul Skenes went seven innings with 12 strikeouts and allowed one run on five hits. Thompson had two doubles in four at-bats, with the three RBIs.

Game 2 will be 6 p.m. CT on Friday on SEC Network with the series finale at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday.
