LSU basketball's Darius Days to play for San Antonio Spurs in NBA Summer League
LSU basketball forward Darius Days will play for the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Summer League, the school announced on Friday.
Days was not selected during Thursday night's 2022 NBA Draft.
In four seasons at LSU, Days averaged 10.3 points and 6.5 rebounds on 47.4% shooting from the field. He averaged a career-high 13.7 points as a senior but had his most efficient season as a junior, shooting 40% from 3-point range and 51.9% overall.
He was also a second-team All-SEC selection this past season and had career-highs in minutes and field goal attempts per game.

Strengths
Days can do a little bit of everything offensively.
He's a capable 3-point shooter with a soft touch around the basket. He's also a good offensive rebounder who finished fourth in the SEC in total rebounds this season.
Defensively, Days isn't a game-wrecker but he is solid. He has good length — his wingspan is 7 feet — and is capable enough as an athlete to defend some shiftier players. He was also active in forcing turnovers, nabbing a career-high 51 steals this season.
Weaknesses
Days is a well-rounded player but also doesn't have an elite skill.
He's a solid but not great 3-point shooter. His athleticism is functional but isn't close to elite. Days isn't a liability on defense, but also doesn't force an opposing team to gameplan around his capabilities.
At 6-foot-7 and 245 pounds, Days might also have trouble finding a position where he can thrive in the NBA.
He played mostly power forward and center in college, but his lack of athleticism could be a problem against bigger wings who are more athletic and centers that are much bigger than him. And again, he doesn't have a particular physical trait or skill that can offset those potential deficiencies.
Final verdict
Days will have to show that he can consistently knock down corner 3-point shots and defend in space to become a viable power forward in the NBA. He showed some ability to do both in college but didn't bend opposing offenses or defenses with either skill.
If he takes two steps forward in both departments, he could become an effective role player in the NBA. If not, Days could find himself playing overseas sooner rather than later.
