Less than two weeks ago, Brian Kelly was named as the new LSU head football coach in a stunning move from Notre Dame.

Since then, Kelly's first coaching staff in Baton Rouge has come together slowly but steadily.

Here's the full staff list, updated as assistants and coordinators are named.

2022 LSU football coaching staff

Head coach — Brian Kelly

LSU is Kelly's fifth stop as a head coach, following stints at Grand Valley State, Central Michigan, Cincinnati and Notre Dame. At the latter two stops, Kelly has taken his teams to seven BCS/New Year's Six bowl appearances, including a national title game and two College Football Playoffs.

Offensive coordinator and tight ends coach — Mike Denbrock

Denbrock joins Kelly's staff following a five-year stint as the offensive coordinator at Cincinnati, reaching the College Football Playoff Semifinals this season with the Bearcats. Kelly had worked with Denbrock at Grand Valley State and Notre Dame for seven years at each stop.

Defensive coordinator and linebackers coach — Matt House

House rejoins the SEC after three seasons as the Kansas City Chiefs linebackers coach from 2019-21. Before then, House was Kentucky's defensive coordinator in 2017 and 2018. In the latter season, Kentucky's defense powered the Wildcats to their first 10-win season since 1977.

Special teams coordinator — Brian Polian

Polian, the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame general manager Bill Polian, is following Kelly to LSU and will retain the same role as he held in South Bend. Brian Polian was also a head coach for four seasons at Nevada, compiling a pair of bowl berths.

Running backs coach and Associate head coach — Frank Wilson

Wilson is back in Baton Rouge after stints at UTSA and McNeese State as a head coach. Wilson held the titles of running backs coach, associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at LSU from 2010-15. He returns after compiling a 7-11 record in two seasons at McNeese State.

Offensive line coach — Brad Davis

LSU announced on Dec. 8 that Davis would return in 2022 as the team's offensive line coach. Davis will be the interim head coach for the Texas Bowl. 2022 would be Davis' second season at LSU.

Wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator — Cortez Hankton

Hankton is a New Orleans native and spent the last three seasons as Georgia's wide receivers coach. Before his time at Georgia, he was the receivers coach at Vanderbilt and Dartmouth. Hankton had a hand in recruiting 12 four-star recruits and former five-star wide receiver George Pickens.

Defensive line coach and running game coordinator — Jamar Cain

Jamar Cain, the former Oklahoma defensive line coach who reportedly joined Lincoln Riley at USC following his departure from the Sooners, flipped his commitment wi the Trojans in favor of LSU in a move that was made official on Jan. 5. Cain had also coached at Arizona State and Fresno State as a defensive assistant.

Quarterbacks coach — Joe Sloan

Sloan comes to LSU after nine seasons at Louisiana Tech serving in multiple roles over the years as its receivers coach, offensive coordinator and interim head coach. He was announced as LSU's quarterback's coach on Jan. 3. Sloan has no direct ties with Kelly, but Sloan has a strong resume of recruiting talent in Louisiana.

Safeties coach — Kerry Cooks

Cooks, a former co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach with Oklahoma and Notre Dame, is joining the LSU staff after two years as a defensive analyst in South Bend. Cooks was on Kelly's first Notre Dame staff, originally as a cornerbacks coach in 2010 before becoming the co-defensive coordinator title from 2012-14. After stints with the Sooners and Texas Tech, Cooks returned to Notre Dame in 2020.

Cornerbacks coach — Robert Steeples

Steeples joins LSU after spending last season as an assistant special teams coach with the Minnesota Vikings. He had a stellar four-year stint as a head coach at the high school level, winning a state title and posting a 29-4 record in his final three years at De Smet Jesuit high school in Missouri. As a player, he played three seasons at Missouri and Memphis and spent time in the NFL with the Vikings, St. Louis Rams, Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys
