LSU football schedule 2024: TV time, date released for USC matchup, Rice game moved

BATON ROUGE – LSU football has shaken up its 2024 schedule.

ESPN announced Wednesday that LSU's 2024 season opener against Southern Cal in Las Vegas will be on Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN, which means the Tigers will open their season on a Sunday for three consecutive years.

LSU has also moved its game against Rice from Sept. 7, 2024, to Sept. 29, 2029, according to documents obtained by The Advertiser.

The amendment was made last month, a day following the announcement that Texas and Oklahoma were moving from the Big 12 to the SEC in 2024. The schedule adjustment would allow LSU to play in nine conference games in 2024.

The Tigers are also scheduled to face UCLA in Tiger Stadium on Sept. 21. Their other nonconference opponent is South Alabama.

LSU is 1-1 all-time against the Trojans. The last time the two sides faced each other was in 1984, a game the Tigers won 23-3 in the Coliseum. USC won the first matchup in 1979 in Tiger Stadium by a 17-12 margin.

The Tigers open their 2023 campaign against Florida State in Orlando on Sept. 3.
