Four-star running back and LSU target Trevor Etienne committed to Florida on Saturday.
At 5-foot-9 and 218 pounds, Etienne is the brother of Jacksonville Jaguars running back and former Clemson star Travis Etienne. The Jennings star had LSU, Florida and Clemson as his top three schools and is the No. 15 running back in the nation and the No. 14 recruit in Louisiana, according to 247Sports Composite.
Etienne is the Gators' first running back commit of the class.
Florida assistant coach and running backs coach Jabaar Juluke was the lead recruit for his services.
Juluke has deep Louisiana ties as a New Orleans native and as the assistant head coach for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns from 2018-21. He was also LSU's running backs coach in 2016 and the Tigers' lead recruiter in its pursuit of Grant Delpit and Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
The Gators have made a strong recruiting effort in Louisiana after hiring UL coach Billy Napier in November. Besides hiring Juluke, Florida also hired LSU cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond — who is well-known for his recruiting abilities in the state — to the same position on Dec. 9.

Etienne is Florida's first commitment from Louisiana in the class, but the Gators were also a finalist in Madison Prep four-star prospect Quency Wiggins' recruitment — who signed with LSU — and have scheduled a visit with uncommitted five-star safety Jacoby Mathews.
