LSU football vs. Florida: Score prediction, scouting report for Tigers' trip to The Swamp

BATON ROUGE - LSU football will face another test when it meets Florida for the first time in coach Brian Kelly's tenure at The Swamp on Saturday (6 p.m., ESPN).

The Tigers (4-2, 2-1 SEC) are coming off a 40-13 meltdown defeat to Tennessee at home, while the Gators (4-2, 1-2) defeated Missouri for their first SEC win of the year, 24-17.

Here's a closer look at the matchup, as LSU looks to win its fourth consecutive contest against its SEC East rival.

The impact of Will Campbell's return

Kelly said Wednesday that LSU's left tackle practiced with the team Tuesday and is expected to play against the Gators this weekend after collapsing and being sent to the hospital during LSU's walkthrough last Friday.

This is massive news for LSU's offensive line, which struggled without him against Tennessee. With Garrett Dellinger also injured – he's out for this week and likely next – Campbell's return means that the Tigers have to fill only one spot on the offensive line.

Anthony Bradford, who filled in for Dellinger when he was out against Auburn and was at left tackle last week in Campbell's place, likely slides to right guard with Miles Frazier moving from right to left guard, Kelly said on Thursday. Because of his size, Bradford (6-foot-5, 345 pounds) has been a much better tackle than guard since Kelly has been in charge.

Florida's Anthony Richardson is an enigma

Richardson is arguably the most athletic quarterback in college football, as he has the size, speed, agility and arm strength to make every NFL scout salivate profusely.

But Richardson has been wildly inconsistent, and his decision-making has been erratic at best. He has turned over the ball 10 times and has more interceptions (7) than touchdown passes (5). He's completed less than 60% of his throws in four of the Gators' six contests.

He's had some highs, such as his explosive performance against Utah in Week 1, when he was 17-for-24 passing for 168 yards and rushed for 106 yards with three touchdowns. But Richardson's unpredictable play has made him less trustworthy in Gators coach Billy Napier's eyes, as he had only 14 passes against Missouri.

LSU defensive coordinator Matt House has done a good job of confusing opposing quarterbacks and deploying an aggressive scheme that isn't afraid of applying pressure.

This week is as good one for House to dive into his bag of schematic tricks and fool a turnover-prone quarterback like Richardson.

Player to watch: Florida's offensive line

One player doesn't define an offensive line, but a group of five does. That's why the Gators' offensive line gets the shoutout in our player-to-watch section this week.

The unit is easily Florida's most valuable and strongest positional group.

The Gators' line has allowed just 15 pressures and one sack, according to Pro Football Focus. To put that into perspective, LSU's offensive line has surrendered 46 pressures and 13 sacks.

The group has also been dominant in the running game, giving the space necessary for Florida to average over six yards per attempt and produce 19 runs of at least 15 yards. They've been nothing short of prolific.

Score prediction: Florida 20, LSU 17

Will Campbell's return to the lineup should only help LSU. But Florida has home field and a clear advantage on both lines of scrimmage.

This game should be close. However, as long as Richardson doesn't turn it over too often, the Gators have a slight advantage.
