LSU is a perfect 3 for 3 in SEC series so far, but the Tigers are still looking for their first sweep of the season after taking one on the chin in Game 3 against the Tennessee Volunteers with a 14-7 loss on Saturday.

Thatcher Hurd got the start on the mound, and he had another very tough go of it. He allowed four hits and six earned runs before he was yanked in the first inning for Riley Cooper, who would pitch the next 5.2 innings but didn’t fare much better.

He allowed four runs in the fourth inning as UT led 10-0 after just a frame and a half. LSU got runs back in the bottom of the second and third, however, and Cooper settled in a bit after that.

The Tigers made things a bit interesting with a fourth-inning run in which a pair of two RBI base hits from Tre Morgan and Dylan Crews cut the deficit to just 10-6.

However, Cooper allowed a two-run homer in the sixth, and Samuel Dutton gave up two more runs in the seventh. LSU got something going in the eight, but it only got one run out of it on a Tommy White RBI single.

With the loss, the Tigers move to 24-4 (6-3 SEC) on the season. They’ll face Nicholls at home in a Tuesday night midweek game before traveling to Columbia, South Carolina, to take on the Gamecocks for a weekend series.
