No game this week with the LSU Tigers enjoying the open date before heading to Tuscaloosa on Nov. 6 for a throwdown with Alabama. The Crimson Tide are currently the No. 3 ranked team in the country with their 7-1 record. LSU is 4-4 and looking to avoid their fourth loss in five games.

The open week is an opportunity for the Tigers to get right in several areas. The team needs time to rest some of their players and get healthier before their David vs Goliath battle with the Tide. Alabama has beat LSU by an average of 17.6 points in their last nine wins dating back to the 2012 BCS National Championship game. The lone Tigers victory came in 2019 when LSU escaped Tuscaloosa with the 46-41 victory.

There is plenty of time to get into the LSU-Alabama game next Saturday, for now, we will put a pin in that conversation. Instead, the staff looks further ahead, to 2022 to be exact. We offer our boldest take for next season.

First, Lance predicts a monumental victory next season.

LSU beats Alabama after both teams come off of their bye week in 2022.

I don’t care who it is that’s coaching, LSU has enough talent to beat Alabama in Baton Rouge. Especially if even a fraction of Bama’s issues they’re having this season carry over into next year. Bryce Young may be a world-beater, but he couldn’t carry the load against A&M this season. Quite frankly, I don’t see him going undefeated next season without some massive improvement from the skill position players around him. LSU has got the tools to do it and coming off of a bye, I think they get it done. Saban is entering the twilight hour of his career.

Next, who will be the head coach of LSU in 2022?

Lane Kiffin will call plays for Spencer Rattler as the LSU head coach

Well, we have a few layers to get through here so bear with me. Let’s start with the quarterback situation at Ole Miss. Matt Corral is in his junior season and many believe that he will bolt for the NFL. With the opening at LSU, it would be more attractive to leave for Baton Rouge at that point. The expected front runners for the job according to the national pundits are Mel Tucker and James Franklin.

For my prediction, Franklin takes the job at USC and will lead the Trojans in 2022. Tucker stays in East Lansing as the Spartans pony up some more cash to keep him at Michigan State. The next tier of coaches would include Lane Kiffin. He comes to Baton Rouge and convinces Spencer Rattler to come play one year for him with the Tigers before heading off to the NFL. Regardless if it is in Baton Rouge or Oxford, I believe Spencer Rattler will play for Kiffin in 2022.

How’s that for spicy 2022 takes involving the LSU Tigers.
