It is the rematch of the offensive explosion in the season finale one year ago. The LSU Tigers survived the onslaught from Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels, 53-48. Based on the over/under expected in this game, we could be in for another wild shootout.

In recent weeks we had LSU survive a shootout with Florida 49-42, and Ole Miss needed a stop on a two-point conversion to beat Arkansas 52-51. Both teams can light up the scoreboard. The offensive explosion is less so for the Tigers who lost Kayshon Boutte, or so you would think. Last week they didn’t need him as the offense generated 42 points.

Looking at the passers, we examine the quarterback tale of the tape.

Tigers quarterback Max Johnson might have better numbers from yards and touchdowns, Rebels quarterback Matt Corral has been more efficient. On Monday Lane Kiffin stated that it didn’t look good from a health perspective but Ed Orgeron wasn’t buying it, called it a “smokescreen.”

If the Ole Miss offense isn’t led by Corral, that could be a major issue for their offense. The Rebels offense goes as Corral goes. He is the leading passer and rusher for the team. The edge at quarterback does belong to the junior quarterback but if Ole Miss has to go with a backup, expect Max Johnson and the offense to shine brightest.

If Corral does indeed play, if LSU can force another awful game like last year you have to like their chances. They intercepted Corral five times in that game.
