LSU women's basketball at Florida: Score prediction, scouting report

LSU women's basketball no longer has to worry about whether it would have to play as many as four games in next month's SEC Tournament.

Thursday's 69-60 win over Ole Miss secured the double-bye in the conference tournament for the No. 4 Tigers (24-1, 12-1). The worst LSU can finish is fourth in the standings as it owns tiebreaks over Tennessee, Ole Miss and Alabama.

Now Kim Mulkey and her team look to restart another win streak as the regular season enters its final week. Up next is a trip to Florida (14-12, 3-10) on Sunday afternoon (1 p.m., SEC Network).

AFTERMATCH AFTER SOUTH CAROLINA GOT LSUAfter seeing No. 1 South Carolina, LSU women's basketball now knows how far rebuild must go

Kim Mulkey needs to find way to get Flau'jae Johnson, Jasmine Carson going

The Tigers clearly are the superior squad in Sunday's game. The Gators have been giving up plenty of points lately, including 87 to No. 1 South Carolina on Thursday, so their defense has been susceptible.

The matchup with Florida could be the perfect opportunity for freshman Flau'jae Johnson and senior wing Jasmine Carson to rediscover their offensive confidence. During the past three weeks, Johnson has averaged 6 points and Carson 3 points per game. Johnson averages 12.3 and Carson 9.6 this season.

For Mulkey to position her team in the best shape heading into the postseason, she must find a way to get those two going.

LSU women's basketball needs to win rebounding battle

While Mulkey will say that rebounding was even against Ole Miss, the Tigers still finished below the Rebels in the total count, 43-42.

It's the second straight game LSU was outrebounded, far and away the first time it's happened this season. On average, LSU grabs 19 more rebounds than its opponents.

Florida doesn't rebound the ball as well as Ole Miss or the Gamecocks, so it'll be good for the Tigers and sophomore star forward Angel Reese to get back on the positive side of that in-game competition.

Florida Gators beat LSU last season. Kim Mulkey and team will be motivated

If you look at the records, LSU and Florida aren't comparable. But as Mulkey pointed out following the Ole Miss game Thursday, Florida knocked off the Tigers in Gainesville last season.

LSU won't overlook the Gators, who have lost four straight.
