LSU women's basketball guard Khayla Pointer selected by Las Vegas Aces in WNBA Draft

Former LSU women's basketball guard Khayla Pointer was selected by the Las Vegas Aces with the first pick in the second round of the 2022 WNBA Draft on Monday.

Pointer, a fifth-year senior, this past season became the only player in LSU women's or men's basketball history to record more than 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists in a career. She was also a second-team AP All-American and a first-team All-SEC selection.

The fifth-year senior averaged 19.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.3 assists, leading the Tigers to a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament and a second-place finish in the SEC standings. LSU's season came to a close against sixth-seeded Ohio State in the second round of the tournament.

Las Vegas posted a 24-8 record last season, falling in the semifinals of the WNBA playoffs. The Aces selected Mya Hollingshed and Kiersten Bell in the first round.

Pointer becomes the 19th LSU player to be selected in the WNBA Draft and the first Tiger to be selected since Raignye Louis in 2018.
