ANGEL REESE-CAITLIN CLARK Here's what Iowa's Caitlin Clark said about critics of LSU basketball star Angel Reese

In a statement via her Twitter page, Richard said it wasn't a hard decision for her.

"The coaching staff, fans and players all made me feel at home," the LCA star said. "The confidence and perseverance which is instilled into this program is unbelievable and I want to be (a part) of it. Although it might've not happened when I wanted it to, it's all God's timing.

"Thanks to everybody but with that said ... I will be furthering my academic and athletic career at Louisiana State University."

Richard chose her homestate schools over other high Power Five offers including Arizona State and Ole Miss as well as the hometown school Louisiana, Tulane, Louisiana Tech and Houston.

LSU is just four days removed from winning its first national championship with an historic, 102-85 victory over Iowa at American Airlines Center in Dallas Sunday.

Richard, a 2,000-career point performer so far in high school, helped guide the Knights to a Select Division II championship this season, putting up a whooping 28.2 points per game. She was a First-Team All-Acadiana Team selection for her efforts.

For the second straight year, Mulkey has landed the No. 1 recruit in Louisiana with Richard following up guard and top 2023 prospect in the country in Mikaylah Williams.
