Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears to address TCC graduates

Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears will be the speaker at Tidewater Community College’s 76th Commencement Exercises on Monday.

The ceremony, set for 5 p.m., will be at the Ted Constant Convocation Center on the campus of Old Dominion University.

Earle-Sears, a TCC alum, said she is excited to address the graduates.

“I think it’s so awesome that I get to do this,” she said in news release from the college. “It’s not something I ever thought I’d be able to do when I came to TCC trying to get my life straight.”

Earle-Sears, 59, was born in Jamaica and came to the United States with her family when she was 6. She served four years in the Marines, working as an electrician. Then, in her mid-20s, she started at TCC. She received an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from the college in 1992, then earned a Bachelor’s in English from ODU and a master’s in organizational leadership from Regent University.
