BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The New Orleans Superbowl 2025 plan has been approved and Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser is now preparing for what’s ahead, as leaders prepare to host football’s biggest game.

“I’ll be taking the football handoff from the governor of Illinois, bringing the football back to Louisiana,” said Nungesser.

As the torch is passed, Nungesser’s focus is to promote Louisiana, using the state’s hospitality, hotel services, restaurants, and diversity to pour in tax dollars.

“We’ve had our fifth record-breaking year on tourism before COVID and that year the taxes off of tourism brought in over $1,100 per Louisiana family,” said Nungesser.

Nungesser said with the 2025 Superbowl and Mardi Gras following behind, it’s expected to be another record-breaking year for tourism. He said businesses and visitors will have something to look forward to.

“This is an opportunity for us to put our best foot forward to the whole world. I tell people, you come to Louisiana for the food and music, but you leave with a friend for life,” said Nungesser.

Super Bowl 2025 kicks off Sunday, Feb. 9 at the Mercedes Benz Superdome, so tourists still have time.
