Texas Hill returns to Cactus stage

Texas Hill (Casey James, Craig Wayne Boyd and Adam Wakefield) returns to the Cactus Theater stage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19.

Texas Hill is a gritty amalgam of overlapping tastes and distinct voices that meet in the middle as a bold harmonic trio. Boyd offers a voice full of gospel-tinged country smoke, Wakefield blends a rootsy bluegrass-and-Americana rasp, and James wraps it with a blue-eyed soul quality and deft blues guitar chops.

The result is a band that’s both rock solid and highly adaptive. Texas Hill is instantly identifiable, thanks to its well-developed signature sound: a proud, in-your-face harmonic wall. But each of the three singers can, and does, take over the lead, inevitably pushing the group in his own unique direction while those harmonies allow the whole ensemble to hang on to its sonic center.

Tickets for this show are: All reserved floor and standard balcony seats $19 advance / $24 day of show; and limited balcony box seats $38 (box ticket includes concessions; show ticket at lobby counter when ordering).

Black brings classic country to Hub City

Grammy-winning Country star Clint Black and his wife, Lisa Hartman Black, are scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, in the Helen Devitt Jones Theater of Buddy Holly Hall.

Having earned 22 #1 career singles, nearly two dozen gold and platinum awards (U.S. and Canada), a Grammy Award, numerous CMA, ACM and American Music Awards, Clint Black has had one of the most storied careers in modern music. In his latest effort, "Out of Sane", Black continues to hold firm in making great music that doesn’t fit a mold or conform to current popularity.

Tickets to this performance range from $35 to $125 (plus taxes and fees) depending on seating, and are available online at www.buddyhollyhall.com
