Lubbock Civil Attorney David Glasheen announced Wednesday as he is seeking nomination to run for State House District 84.

David Glasheen, a Lubbock civil attorney, on Wednesday announced that he is seeking the Republican nomination for the Lubbock County-based State House District 84 seat in the March primary.

After State Rep. John Frullo, R-Lubbock, announced he's not running for re-election wrapping up a dozen-year career representing the Hub City in the state Capitol, this became an open seat for the first time since 2010.

“Growing up in Lubbock taught me what matters most – faith, family and freedom,” Glasheen said. “That’s why Mary (his wife) and I chose to raise our own family here in Lubbock, and I want to make sure our West Texas values have a voice in Austin.”

Glasheen, who describe himself as a pro-life, pro-liberty Republican, was born and raised in Lubbock, and graduated from Lubbock High School.

While in college, Glasheen enlisted in the United States Army Reserve. Following law school, he served four years on active duty in the United States Marine Corps.

“I love our community, and I want to do my part to help keep Lubbock County growing so that our children will have the opportunity to do business and have jobs in West Texas,” Glasheen said.

Glasheen and his family moved home to Lubbock after his time in the Marine Corps. and he continues to practice law.
