Brown joins Spirit Mortgage, First United Bank
Plains Bancorp Inc., holding company for First United Bank and Spirit Mortgage, announces the addition of Darby Brown to the Lubbock team.
Brown will serve as a mortgage lending officer for Spirit Mortgage and will office at the Lubbock Southwest Banking Center located at the corner of 66th Street and Frankford Avenue.
Brown, a native of Lubbock, comes to First United Bank with six months of experience in the financial and mortgage industry. He is a 2008 graduate of Texas A&M University with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture leadership and development. Brown and his wife of 12 years, Rissa, have four children.
Brown serves as a board member for the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation, a coach with the Lubbock Baseball Academy, a partner with Every Nation Campus Ministries and is a member of Church on the Rock.
Little Guys Movers marks 30 years
In 1992, three guys in Denton, Texas joined forces (and pickup trucks) to create Little Guys Movers. The moving company quickly became known as a hard-working, fun-loving organization that puts its customers first.
Now, 30 years later, Little Guys Movers has expanded to eighteen locations - including Lubbock - in eight states, and that number continues to grow.
Little Guys Movers knows that a move is an opportunity to take care of people — they take pride in helping an individual or a family settle into a new home, and they emphasize giving back to their communities, as well.
Co-founder Chris Hawley remarks: "Since our early days of moving, we wanted to take care of folks. Agoro Carbon Agronomist Gregory Knezek covering Lubbock
Local agronomist Gregory Knezek has joined Agoro Carbon Alliance, a global business created for farmers and ranchers to earn additional revenue through changes to farming and ranching practices. Knezek will be serving Lubbock County and the surrounding communities, offering insight on climate-smart agriculture practices.
Knezek is a fourth-generation farmer that grew up on a wheat, cotton, and cattle farm, which he and his brother are still operating and are currently transitioning to utilize regenerative practices. He is driven by his passion for helping growers become more profitable and sustainable, all while helping them preserve their land to create a legacy for their families.
“Texas is a big state with endless opportunities. Lubbock County farmers have a chance to preserve the soil health of their land and earn additional revenue,” said Knezek. “I’m excited to help Texans understand the benefits of carbon cropping and teach them more about Agoro Carbon.”
Based in Wichita Falls, TX, Knezek has a lifetime of experience in agriculture. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from Texas A&M University. He’s worked at several companies, including Indigo Ag and Symborg USA.
