Lubbock-Cooper's Cub Patton, Coronado's Samara Luna voted Athletes of the Week

The sophomore kicker provided the dramatics on Friday night, booting a game-winning 50-yard field goal as time expired to lead the Pirates to a 15-14 victory over Coronado in District 2-5A Division I play. It was one of his two field goals on the night. Patton received 49.9% of the votes to win Male Athlete of the Week.

It was a solid week for the Coronado senior standout. In a pair of matches, Luna contributed 25 kills, 18 digs, five aces and two blocks for the Lady Mustangs. She came on top of a close race, earning 39.4% of the vote to claim Female Athlete of the Week honors.
