LCT presents 'Little Shop of Horrors'

Lubbock Community Theater wraps up its production of "Little Shop of Horrors" at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the LCT Proscenium, 3101 35th St.

The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” — after his coworker crush.

This foul-mouthed, R&B singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Seymour as long as he keeps feeding it — BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discover Audrey II’s out of this world origins and intent toward global domination.

Alamo hosting 'Top Gun: Maverick' brunch

Shen Yun shares classical Chinese dance

Shen Yun 2022 comes to the Helen Devitt Jones Theater of Buddy Holly Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31.

Watercolor Society marks 60th anniversary

The West Texas Watercolor Society celebrates its 60th anniversary with the 2022 Spring Show at the Garden & Arts Center, 4215 University Ave., through May 31.

The West Texas Watercolor Society was organized in 1962 and granted a charter by the State of Texas on Nov. 13, 1979, for the purpose of promoting the highest aesthetic standards in the art of water media.

The West Texas Watercolor Society provides an opportunity for the interchange of ideas among persons interested in all form of water media. Bandy to perform at Cactus

Legendary Texas Country traditionalist Moe Bandy is set to perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at the Cactus Theater.

Cactus to host Michael Martin Murphey

Texas musician Michael Martin Murphey is scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 3, at the Cactus Theater.

His musical journey has taken many unpredictable paths over the past 50 years. Topping the pop, country, western and bluegrass charts, Murphey has never been one to rest on his laurels.

A loyal American son from Texas, Murphey is best known for his chart-topping hits “Wildfire,” “Carolina In The Pines,” “What’s Forever For,” “Long Line of Love,” “Geronimo’s Cadillac”, “Cowboy Logic,” and many more across his 35 albums released to date.

Quitaque museum hosting Rendezvous

The Comanchero Canyons Museum, 200 S. Third St., Quitaque, is hosting a Comanchero Rendezvous from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 4.

There will be a hamburger lunch for $10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The museum invites attendees to bring their own artifacts for identification by experts or comparison to the extensive lithic collection of Otho Stubbs.

Many new displays have been added or reworked since the last gathering, including the Red River War and the Texan Santa Fe Expedition’s cache of trade goods.

The museum also features an extensive display of remnants of unearthed fossilized creatures that lived here during the Ice Age, including strange elephants (mammoths), as well as, crocodiles (phytosaurus).

A popular outside activity at the homestead includes Cotton Elliott at the blacksmith forge creating souvenirs as people watch. Sam Montandon will set up his tipi as a kid-knapper, creating preforms and points from flint.

Each year the museum honors a person who has promoted the history of the area in special ways. This year they will remember O.R. Stark Jr., who passed away in 2000. Stark loved the Caprock region and promoted it through word and deed, his famous bank newsletters, and in the acquisition and support of Caprock Canyons State Park.

Alamo hosts 'To Wong Fu' brunch screening

Attitude is everything when Alamo Drafthouse hosts a brunch screening of "To Wong Fu, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar," at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 5.

Elite Manhattan drag queens Vida Boheme (Patrick Swayze) and Noxeema Jackson (Wesley Snipes) impress regional judges in competition, securing berths in the Nationals in Los Angeles. When the two meet pathetic drag novice Chi-Chi Rodriguez (John Leguizamo) — one of the losers that evening — the charmed Vida and Noxeema agree to take the hopeless youngster under their joined wing. Soon the three set off on a madcap road trip across America and struggle to make it to Los Angeles in time.

In celebration of what would have been Judy Garland’s 100th birthday, join fans across the county for a special showing of "The Wizard of Oz" featuring an exclusive deleted musical number.

Canadian Troubadour coming to Hub City

Corb Lund, the Canadian Troubadour, is scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at the Cactus Theater.

Lund has received multiple CCMA, Juno, and international award nominations and wins. A rural Albertan hailing from the foothills of the Rocky Mountains with a long family lineage of ranchers and rodeo people, Lund is about as authentic as they come.

Embracing his Western heritage and his indie rock past through his music, Lund has been known to filter a range of cowboy themes past and present through his unique lens.

Moonlight Musicals kicks off season with 'Hairspray'

Moonlight Musical Lubbock kicks off its 17th year with the 2022 season whose theme is, “Tell Me A Story.”

The first production is "Hairspray" scheduled for June 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25 at the Moonlight Musicals Amphitheater, 413 E. Broadway. All shows start at 8 p.m.

The 1950s are out, and change is in the air. "Hairspray", winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, is a family-friendly musical, piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance and deliriously tuneful songs.

Clay Walker to perform at Cook's

Country singer Clay Walker will take the outdoor stage at Cook's Garage, 11002 Highway 87, on Friday, June 10 at 8:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Texas native Walker was in his early 20s when he started rattling off a string of smash hits. Among them, “Live Until I Die,” “Dreaming With My Eyes Open,” “This Woman And This Man,” “Hypnotize The Moon,” “Rumor Has It,” “Then What,” “I Can’t Sleep” and “She Won’t Be Lonely Long.”

His self-titled debut album rocketed to platinum status, the first of four to cross the million-sold mark. He racked up more than 30 charted singles and 11 No. 1 hits.
