Lubbock police ID driver in Friday night hit-and-run, conduct follow-up

The Lubbock Police Department is scheduled to map the location of a Friday night hit-and-run crash in west Lubbock that left a 20-year-old woman dead.

The vehicle was located and taken into custody on Sunday by officers with the assistance of patrol, while the driver was identified, according to a statement from Lubbock police. LPD did not release the name of the driver.

Lubbock police were called to 19th Street and Kelsey Avenue at 11:34 p.m. on March 24 following reports of a collision with injuries. Upon arrival, officers located Keyanna English-King who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Through the initial course of the investigation, it appears English-King was walking on the south side of the road in the 8800 block of 19 Street when she was struck by an SUV which fled the scene.

No arrests have been made as the investigation is ongoing.

The mapping operation is scheduled to begin at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28, and is expected to last about two hours. All eastbound traffic will be diverted South onto Langford Avenue, while westbound traffic will be down to one lane beginning at Iola Avenue.
