Lubbockites have more than 30 options for new power providers: Here's the list

When the six-week shopping window for retail electric providers opens on Jan. 5, Lubbock consumers will suddenly be faced with a plethora of choices for their electric provider. While Lubbock Power & Light customers previously only had one option for electricity — the city's municipal utility Lubbock Power & Light — Lubbockites will now be required to leave the city-owned utility behind and choose from more than 30 new options.

Electric customers are urged to head to PowerToChoose.org, the State of Texas' official power shopping website, to find a provider and plan that works for them. But, the Avalanche-Journal understands not everyone likes to shop online or has access to the internet, so for those who prefer to call and speak with the companies directly, we've listed below all of the retail electric providers approved to operate within the city of Lubbock.

In this list, we have included the name of each provider, its phone number, web address, and customer support email address (if available). We've also indicated whether the provider services residential customers, business customers or both, and other details. This data comes from Lubbock Power & Light.
