Hello A-J readers!

This was a planning week, as the summer article projects are getting lined up. Over the week, we saw a new farmers market emerge in New Home, the return of a party series at Velvet Taco, and the expansion of healthcare from Oceans Behavioral Hospital.

The New Home Community Farmer's Market finally kicked off their season on Saturday, after struggling to find vendors in early June. The market offered some cool finds, and hopes to give back to their community's volunteer fire department throughout the summer.

"As our community grows, we end up with a major need for that service," said Kendra Sappenfield Martin, organizer for the market. "We also want to make sure that they are equipped to do that in a way that's healthy and safe."

Velvet Taco, 2401 Glenna Goodacre Blvd., brought back their Party on the Patio series, which will have local musicians, giveaways and plenty of specials.

Oceans Behavioral Hospital,  4202 Princeton St., announced their Intensive Outpatient Program for people ages 18 years old and older.

“For individuals who require dedicated care but desire flexible scheduling, our Intensive Outpatient Program is an ideal treatment option," said Marybeth Moran, administrator of Oceans Behavioral Hospital Lubbock.

On Friday, several of my A-J colleagues checked out Ringtail Ranch Lemur Rescue, a local lemur rescue that offers a walk on the wild side, with the added bonus of helping animals. Stay tuned for the details next week.

Another upcoming article will show off a taste of Tokio (yes, that is the spelling for this Texas community), which hosts Williams Ranch Vineyard. Annie Rice and I plan to see what WRV has to offer, and their upcoming plans.

As always, thank you for reading and supporting the A-J.
