Bringing tacos, local musicians and giveaways together in their first summer series, Velvet Taco is hoping to start a new Thursday tradition.

Velvet Taco, 2401 Glenna Goodacre Blvd., opened in March 2021, and has become a well-rated taco stop near Texas Tech. For their second summer in the city, the restaurant decided to start Party on the Patio, a new summer series.

The parties start at 4 p.m. on Thursdays with $3 Killer Lite Drafts, $4 Fan Fave Tacos or Chips & Queso, and $5 margaritas for dine-in customers.

With the series, the restaurant will have giveaways. Attendees could win branded bags, cups, journals or other Velvet Taco prizes.

Local musicians perform from 6-9 p.m., and the event continues through midnight.

The currently scheduled performances, as of June 16, are:

• 6/23: Tatum Sheets

• 6/30: Junior Vasquez

• 7/7: Jacob Nalle

• 7/21: Drew Cypert

• 7/28: Erin Wolff

• 8/11: Erin Wolff

Performances will run through the summer, according to Evyn Norell, senior marketing specialist for Velvet Taco.

A manager at the restaurant mentioned if the summer series goes well, they could bring it back for the fall. People can keep up with the Lubbock location on Facebook and velvettaco.com.
