Lucedale Man Faces Ten Counts of Assaulting a deputy

GEORGE COUNTY, Miss (WKRG) – A Lucedale man is facing ten felony charges of assaulting a George County Sheriff’s Deputy on Thursday, March 14.

According to a post from the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to a court order to the residence of 66-year-old Robert Lewis. They say when law enforcement got there Lewis began resisting arrest and pulled out a gun.

The deputy assaulted by Lewis suffered minor injuries.

Lewis was taken into custody and booked into the George County Regional Correctional Facility.

Lewis was denied bond.

George County Sheriff said on a Facebook post late Friday night, “This is another example of the dangers our law enforcement officers and correctional officers face on a daily basis. I appreciate the work of law enforcement in bringing justice to this case.”
