The Powerball began back on April 22, 1992 with 14 states and the District of Columbia. It has since grown to 48 lotteries participating. Five states do not offer Powerball: Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah.

The Powerball jackpot has been hit nearly 200 times. Thirty-nine state lotteries and Washington DC and Puerto Rico have had multiple jackpot winners while four states and the Virgin Islands have yet to have a winner.
