Channel 2′s Tyisha Fernandes was live outside of Spelman College during Channel 2 Action News at 4 p.m. where she spoke with Ludacris’ daughter.

The Spelman junior says she is honored that her father did this. Karma said she considers the show a love letter to her and other people who are going through things that bring them down.

The series features a girl named Karma and it uses music to express challenges children face as they work through their feelings.

Karma said her father has been working on this for over a decade.

“He’s been working on this over 10 years now and it’s definitely something I feel so privileged to be able to see. Really start from just an idea to now - what it has become,” said Karma.

She said it started out as a website where Karma could express herself through songs.

“He set aside studio times for me to go in and actually sing about things that were happening in my life,” said Karma.

Now, it’s four seasons of episodes that deal with a multitude of things, including bullying and body shaming.

“I think a lot of times we’re able to watch TV and say ‘OMG I can relate to that character because they’re also going through this and because they were able to make it out, I can make it out.’ So, that’s what I hope that the episodes in Karma’s World really gets across to children and adults,” said Karma.

The show is now partnering up with the Boys and Girls Club.

“I know that the Boys and Girl Club has access to a certain demographic of children that wouldn’t get this message or wouldn’t get the same messages that Karma’s World has to tell, in a different environment,” said Karma.

The series tackles tough topics that are sensitive. With the main character being a young black girl, it gives other black girls representation and solutions to deal with everyday issues that can be very difficult for children to deal with on their own.
