Luhansk Oblast: Ukrainian forces repel Russian assault on Toshkivka, fighting for Sievierodonetsk continues

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have repelled the Russian assault on Toshkivka in Luhansk Oblast. Russian troops continue to storm Sievierodonetsk, but Ukrainian forces continue to maintain the city’s defence.

Quote: "The enemy is pressing ahead in Sievierodonetsk and Toshkivka, burning down whole villages in Hirske and Popasna hromadas [amalgamated territorial communities – ed.]. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding back the enemy as much as possible. Yesterday they repelled another assault on Toshkivka, where the scale of destruction grows every day."

Details: According to the head of the Luhansk Military Administration, the Russian army is losing hundreds of its soldiers, but manages to replenish losses with reserves and continues to destroy the city of Sievierodonetsk. On 15 June, Russian occupation forces once again targeted the Skloplastik fibreglass plastic plant and another now defunct plant, inflicting damage on the villages of Pavlohrad and Synetskyi.

As of the morning of 16 June, Russian forces are continuing to storm Sievierodonetsk. Haidai noted that Ukrainian soldiers are maintaining their defence of the city.

According to Haidai, Russian occupiers are continuing to destroy Ukrainian towns and villages in Luhansk Oblast: Viktorivka, Novoivanivka, Vovchoiarivka, and Nyrkove, among others. In Hirske alone, 12 buildings have been damaged or destroyed over the course of the past 24 hours.
