As stated, the decision was made taking into account "the direct dependence of the standard of living of many residents of the border regions of the neighboring country on the harvesting and subsequent sale of wild plants."

Thus, citizens of Ukraine with the appropriate permits are allowed to freely cross the state border at the Mutvitsa, Khinichev and Poselok checkpoints.

At the same time, the authorities of Ukraine's Rivne Oblast have warned of an impending provocation.

"We ask everyone to consider this consciously and not to cross the state border due to the fact that it is closed from the Ukrainian side," said Vitaliy Koval, head of the local regional military administration.

"We're picking berries in our native forests. We've already informed you about the clear zones as decided by the regional defense council. It is prohibited only in some territorial communities. In other forests of Rivne Oblast, berry picking is allowed."
