Lukashenko regime says Ukraine planning to attack, Ukraine issues denial

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry invited the Ambassador of Ukraine to Minsk and handed him a diplomatic note with the claim.

There is no evidence that Ukraine is planning such an attack.

Nikolenko said the claim could be a Russian provocation.

"This information is not true,” Nikolenko wrote on Facebook.

“We categorically reject the latest insinuations of the Belarusian regime. We don’t exclude that the delivery of a diplomatic note may be part of a Russian Federation plan to carry out a provocation and further accuse Ukraine."

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called on the Belarusian people not to succumb to provocations.

"Ukraine has never encroached on foreign territories,” Nikolenko said. “We strictly follow the fundamental norms and principles of international law and the UN Charter.”

“The authorities in Belarus must stop following the whims of the Kremlin and immediately stop supporting Russia in carrying out its aggression against Ukraine.”
