Lukashenko says he will participate in the upcoming Presidential "election" in Belarus

Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko has said that he plans to run in the upcoming Presidential election in Belarus, which is scheduled to take place in 2025, he said on Feb. 25.

"I will go to the elections. Tell the opposition that I will (participate in elections). And the more difficult the situation is, the more they stir up our society, the more they strain you, me, and all of our society, the sooner I will go to these elections,” the Belarusian dictator boasted.

“Don't worry, we will do what is right for Belarus,” he said, with not a single hint of irony.

In addition, according to Lukashenko, "in the whole world there are no such open, fair elections as in Belarus."

The upcoming elections will be the seventh for the Belarusian dictator, who has lots of experience with “winning” elections. Lukashenko has been President since 1994.

In early January 2024, the Belarusian dictator signed amendments to the Law on the President, which, among other things, defined guarantees for him and his family, including after the termination of his powers. In particular, he is now guaranteed immunity, lifetime protection, and the right to state real estate after his resignation.

On Aug. 9, 2020, Belarus held its sixth presidential election, which from the first days of the campaign was accompanied by mass protests against Lukashenko.

After massive election fraud, protests and strikes broke out across the country, which were brutally suppressed by security forces. At least eight people were killed during the protests.
