Luke Combs Reveals His Valentine's Day Plans with Fiancée Nicole Hocking: 'I Got a Little Game'

Luke Combs isn’t just a talented musician — he’s also a romantic!

The country singer, who recently got engaged to Nicole Hocking, stepped out with his longtime love at Sunday’s 2019 Grammy Awards, where he received a nomination in the best new artist category.

Ahead of the show, Combs, 28, spoke with PEOPLE TV about his upcoming plans for his fiancée this Valentine’s Day.

“Right now, I’ve got a sold-out arena show in Knoxville, Tennessee on Valentine’s Day so I’m gonna do that,” he explained. “But she will be out on the road, so I’m sure I’ll come up with some kind of Casanova-type thing to try to sweep her off her feet one more time.”

“I’ve got a little game,” he added.

The CMA best new artist revealed in November with a photo taken on their Hawaiin vacation that he proposed to his longtime love — but he had actually asked the bog question before their trip.

“She said yes a while ago but this is a much better place to take pictures than the kitchen,” Combs joked. “Can’t wait to spend forever with you! I love you!”

Added Hocking, “You’re stuck with me forever!! I love you so much babe.”

When he and Hocking — who was working at BMI in Nashville — first started dating in 2016, there “was no publishing deal, no record deal, no booking deal” and a manager who’d never managed before, Combs told PEOPLE last year.

“Everybody was like, ‘Yeah, this is never gonna work,'” Combs said, “and so I didn’t have anything when we met.”

Turns out everybody was wrong. Combs was the first solo artist to score four consecutive No. 1s on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart with his debut album’s hits “She Got the Best of Me,” “One Number Away,” “When It Rains It Pours” and “Hurricane.”

Since the June 2017 release of This One’s for You, the LP spent more than 15 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1, including 13 in 2018 alone — the most of any album that year.

And the ride has continued into 2019, where Combs — who is currently headlining his Beer Never Broke My Heart tour that kicked off in January — was nominated for his first-ever Grammy for the best new artist. The award was won by Dua Lipa.

Of his first time attending the annual music awards show, Combs said the experience — and the guests’ outfits — had been “pretty wild.”

“It’s totally different than anything I’ve ever done. It’s kinda like a circus a little bit,” he joked, before adding, “There’s a lot of cool outfits that I would not have worn, maybe, but there’s a lot of cool outfits. It’s great, it’s awesome.”

“It’s a cool night to get to showcase a little bit of what Nashville has to offer,” the singer added of his fellow country nominees.

Combs also admitted to being starstruck by Dolly Parton, who was honored at Sunday’s show in a tribute performance and received MusiCares’ annual person of the year prize.

“I just almost ran into Dolly on accident which was awesome, it’s the coolest thing that’s ever happened to me, almost bumping into [her],” he shared.

The 61st Annual Grammy Awards are broadcasting live from Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT on CBS.
