Luke Taylor: Illinois Soul to broadcast Krannert Uncorked

Jan. 30—Welcome to "Illini Insider," your regular dose of University of Illinois news from beat writer Luke Taylor. Fresh out of college himself, he's always looking for story tips, photo ideas and social media mentions. Email him at ltaylor@news-gazette.com and he'll give chase.

All five Krannert Center Uncorked events in February will be broadcast on the radio, thanks to a collaboration with Illinois Public Media and Illinois Soul 101.1 FM.

Illinois Soul is IPM's new station highlighting Black experiences and voices.

It hits the airwaves Feb. 1, right in time for Black History Month, on WILL-FM 101.1 and illinoissoul.org.

Staff from the station will come over to the Krannert Center to catch the Uncorked events each Thursday.

Maureen Reagan, the Krannert Center's associate director for marketing, said the community should take the opportunity to come out and meet the people behind Illinois Soul.

Krannert Uncorked is a free weekly wine tasting featuring live performances from local audiences.

The Uncorked events to be broadcast include...

Feb. 1: Afro D & Global Soundwaves

Feb. 8: Dexter O'Neal and the Funk Yard

Feb. 15: Soft Spoken

Feb. 22: Haki N Dem

Feb 29: Nadirah Shakoor
