If re-elected in 2025, Lumumba would serve his third term as the 53rd mayor of Jackson.

First elected in 2017, Lumumba is on his second term as mayor after winning reelection with 69% of the vote in 2021. He defeated Independent-challengers Charlotte Reeves, Les Tannehill and Shafeqah Lodree, as well as Republican-challenger Jason Wells.

All members of the Jackson City Council will also be up for reelection in 2025. None have announced if they will run for reelection.

Lumumba and the council's terms all end on July 1, 2025.
