Luna County board reviews agreements

DEMING – Luna County commissioners will review the collective bargaining agreements with the Luna County Sheriff's Office Local 1764 (ASFCME) and are expected to vote during a regular meeting of the board at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, on the third floor of the historic Luna County Courthouse, 700 S. Silver St. in Deming, NM.

The board will also revisit county agreements on the consent agenda. The county board will recognize county employees for service. Betty Quiroz will receive a 15-year pin, Lucio Caballero will receive a 20-year pin and Dylan Grave will receive special recognition.

Board members will also hear presentations from Lee Cook on the Luna County Detention Center quarter report on restrictive housing, Tim Williams and Sgt. Reed on SABER, and Chris Martinez of Columbus Electric regarding community solar.

The collective bargaining agreement between the county and the Luna County Sheriff’s Office union (ASFCME No. 1764) will come under roll call and vote. Also, up for roll call and vote is the MSA between county and the Village of Columbus, NM, and a variance request for property setback for Villanueva Estates (blocks 1 and 13).

Two resolutions come up for review:

Amended Resolution 22-48: the authorization of property purchase (Little Vineyards Subdivision)

Resolution 22-50: In support and financial commitment for Corre Camino transportation services.

The board also announced upcoming meetings before adjournment. They will meet for a work session at 10 a.m. on July 19, and a special meeting at 10 a.m. on July 21, for the final budge approval.
