Lunch with a Leader program hosts CPS students for 10th year

CHICAGO — Some Chicago Public School students are building network opportunities and learning the importance of education for their future careers.

Tuesday marked the 10th year for the “Lunch with a Leader” program. The students are selected from schools across the city.

Nearly 400 CPS students attended the event at Malcolm X College on Tuesday.

The Support Group, a non-profit that’s been around Chicago more than 30 years, holds this lunch every year. This year, NBA stars Mark Aguirre and Tim Hardaway, were in attendance Tuesday.

This lunch is for networking for the students and to stress the importance of education for a successful life.

Mayor Brandon Johnson told the group that he put into his budget the money to hire up to 4,000 more young people in the city’s summer youth employment program, which was up to 24,000 last year.
