Luxe suites and expansive views: What to know about Silversea's new cruise ship

If you’re looking to treat yourself on your next vacation, a new luxury cruise ship set sail this week.

Silversea Cruises’ newest vessel, Silver Nova, embarked passengers for its maiden voyage on Monday. The week-long trip on the first ship in the line’s Nova class will take guests to ports in Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro, round-trip from Venice, Italy.

It was incredibly emotional to welcome guests aboard Silver Nova ahead of her maiden voyage,” Barbara Muckermann, the line’s president, said in a news release. “Benefiting from an innovative asymmetrical design, she immerses guests into the destination at every turn – a strong expression of our brand mission.”

Here’s what guests should know about the ship.

Where will Silver Nova sail?

The ship, which can accommodate 728 guests, will spend the rest of the summer sailing in the Mediterranean, before making its way to the Caribbean and South America in November.

Silver Nova will depart on a 71-day Grand Voyage with destinations primarily in South America early next year. The cruise, which begins on Jan. 4, 2024, will visit 18 countries. Prices including airfare start at $50,900 per person based on double occupancy.

What can passengers expect from Silver Nova?

The ship’s design “prizes openness over symmetry,” the line said in the release. Silver Nova’s pool deck overlooks the water. The Marquee and The Dusk Bar, which are new outdoor food and drink venues, offer expansive views towards the ship's aft and from its stern, respectively.

The ship also features 13 suite categories - the most ever for the line - ranging from over 350 to more than 1,320 square feet, and all have butler service. For passengers wanting some extra space, the ship’s largest accommodation, the Otium Suite, boasts floor-to-ceiling windows with 270-degree views and a 431-square-foot balcony with a whirlpool.

The ship will also feature a spa, a two-level boutique and more.
