Luxury mixed-income apartment community coming to Uptown
A new luxury apartment complex that will feature affordable housing is coming to Uptown Charlotte.
Inlivian and the Urban Atlantic Secure Innovative secured a $84 million debt and public financing package to build a luxury mixed-income apartment community that be called “Trella Uptown.”
CVS Health recently announced they will be investing $16 million into the project that be built along North Tryon Street.

The project will feature 252 units and 106 of them will be considered affordable housing units. The affordable units will be reserved for people making 20 and 80% of the area’s median income.
“This investment is a demonstration of a public-private partnership that will provide a solution that supports the city’s affordable housing strategy and will help to ensure more Charlotteans have access to the quality of life they desire,” said Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles.
The building’s architectural style will pay homage to Uptown’s Art Deco history and the historic Barringer Hotel.
The project hopes to help provide affordable, stable housing and services to those who need it.
“The closing of the construction financing is a significant milestone in North Carolina’s mixed-income development of its kind,” said Fulton Meachem, Jr., President and CEO of INLIVIAN. “Trella Uptown is innovative and the first of its kind in the state.”
The building will be seven stories and 330,000 square feet. it will be located near employment centers and near Light Rail Stations.
Some of the amenities will include a co-working café, maker space, dog park and pet spa, resort-style pool, fitness studio with yoga room, rooftop recreation deck with grills, and more.
