Luxury real estate firm to build model homes in Rochester

Sep. 22—High-end homes in the Med City market are rare commodities, so one luxury real estate brand is building its own.

Lakes Sotheby's Realty, represented by Rochester Realtor Michelle Kalina, is marketing plans to build two model houses in the Millie Meadow Estates development in southwest Rochester.

The homes will be built by Zen Custom Homes, a Rochester design-build firm.

Kalina, who introduced Sotheby's to Rochester in April, said the plan is to list the planned houses at $1.77 million each. The first one will be a five bedroom, five bath walk-out residence.

She is known in Rochester for her previous experience operating a beauty boutique called About Face, marketing diamonds and as the chief yogini and wellness coach at Michelle K. Yoga Experiences.

Lakes Sotheby's Realty is based in the Twin Cities and is owned by Jeff and Olivia Hornig. It is part of Sotheby's International Realty, the real estate arm of the well-known high-end auction house..

Beside the Twin Cities and Rochester, the Hornigs also have a presence in popular ski communities, such as Jackson Hole, Wyo.
