Grammy-winning Texas singer-songwriter and bandleader Lyle Lovett will tape an episode of "Austin City Limits" with his Large Band on Aug. 24 at ACL Live, the long-running PBS music program announced Monday.

Lovett's taping will come a day before he and the Large Band play a two-night stand of ticketed shows at ACL Live. Tickets to those Aug. 25-26 shows, $49-$110, are still available via acl-live.com. Tickets to "Austin City Limits" tapings are free, with giveaway details usually announced about a week before the taping via the show's social media accounts.

Lovett first appeared on "Austin City Limits" in 1985 as a guest of Nanci Griffith, then made his own debut on the show in 1987. With more than a dozen appearances, Lovett has been on "Austin City Limits" more than any other artist except Willie Nelson. In 2010, he played the final episode taped at Studio 6A, the program's original home on the University of Texas campus.

Lovett, who released his first album in a decade earlier this year, was inducted into the "Austin City Limits" Hall of Fame in 2019. He lives part-time in Austin and on his family's homestead in Klein near Houston.

"Austin City Limits" also has announced that Wednesday's taping with singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile will be livestreamed on the show's website, acltv.com ― as will Sunday's taping by indie band Lucius. Carlile and Lucius team up on Friday for a ticketed show at Waterloo Park.
