Lyman Memorial wins a wild one

May 18—UNCASVILLE — Julia Herman reached safely on a fielder's choice in the top of the eighth inning that plated the go- ahead run as Lyman Memorial edged St. Bernard, 11-10, in a Eastern Connecticut Conference inter- division victory on Tuesday over St. Bernard.

Sophomore Aniela Piaseczny threw a complete game to pick up the win in the circle for the Bulldogs ( 14- 4) and stranded the potential tying run on second base to end the game.

Lena- Maria Byers went 3- for- 5 with three runs scored, Rylee Benway had two hits and two RBI and Rayne Bobbi had two hits with three runs scored and two RBI for Lyman Memorial, which tied the game at 10- all with two runs in the top of the fifth.

In other games. ... Analise Escarraman fired a 1- hitter with 21 strikeouts and singled in the lone run of the game in the top of the eighth inning for Windham ( 9- 7), which snapped a 3- game losing streak with a 1- 0 ECC inter- division victory at Putnam.

Celina Lopez finished with 10 strikeouts in the circle for the Clippers ( 5- 10) in the hard-luck loss.

In Southington, the host Blue Knights, the No. 4- ranked team in this week's New Haven Register/ GameTimeCT state poll, scored five runs over the first two innings in a 10-2 Central Connecticut Conference inter- division victory over RHAM.

Natalie Assunto had two hits and scored a run and Linnea Carlson had an RBI single and scored a run for the Raptors ( 14- 3).

Lead- off hitter Ashlyn Desaulniers (3 hits) doubled and tripled, scored two runs and had three RBI for the Lady Knights (15-1).

In Storrs, E. O. Smith erupted for 16 hits but committed 11 errors in a 16- 10 CCC East Division loss to South Windsor.

Zoey Pietras, Emerson Dyer and Rachel Morales all doubled for the Panthers ( 7- 9 overall, 3- 5 league). Jenna Boardman had four hits.

In Coventry, Lily Rand hit a 2- run home run, Caroline Wesoloskie contributed a hit and two RBI while Charlotte Wesoloskie added a pair of hits with an RBI for the Patriots ( 14- 3 overall, 13- 2 league) in a 10- 2 North Central Connecticut Conference victory over Windsor Locks.

Sydney DeLuca also had two RBI while Elizabeth Mitchell struck out 10 batters with no walks and three hits allowed.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Diana Zito had a goal and five assists for RHAM in a 13-12 CCC Central Division loss to East Catholic in Hebron.

Joelle Goralnik led the Raptors ( 4- 10 overall, 2- 4 league) with four goals while Ciara Murray, Maggie Walker and Grace Schadtle all had two goals.

Ryan Dunstan and Anderson Scigliano each scored four goals for E.O. Smith, which fell in double overtime to Bristol Eastern/ Central Co- op, 10- 9, in a CCC inter- division game.

Sullivan Abatemarco also had a goal for the Panthers (10-4).

Bristol Central/ Eastern (10-5) scored the game-winning goal 30 seconds into the second OT.

GIRLS TENNIS

Bridget Austin (6-1, 6-1) and Sophia Orama ( 6- 1, 6- 0) won singles matches for RHAM in a 5-2 CCC inter- division victory at Bristol Eastern.

Addison Brown and Grace Baran (6-1, 6-3) won at No. 1 doubles and the Raptors ( 5- 7) completed a doubles sweep with wins by Morgan Fazzino and Anna Lavenburg (6-3, 6-0) and Kate Landry and Kiley Stanford ( 6- 1, 6-1).

MONDAY'S RESULTS BASEBALL Cam Bill struck out eight in a complete game and Joe Landlophi ( 2 hits) tripled for Parish Hill in a 10-3 Capital Region Athletic League victory over Weaver.

Keith Robinson tripled and Aiden Stone went 2- for- 2 with two RBI and scored a run for the Pirates (7-8 overall, 7- 2 league).

SOFTBALL

Kristie Zator hit three home runs and had seven RBI as Parish Hill ( 10- 4 overall, 8- 1 league) rolled to a 19- 5 CRAL victory over Weaver (8-7, 5-5) in Hartford.
