Lyman's Skyler Volmer posts pair of top finishes to lead area performers at Dan Lennon Class B indoor meet

Mar. 28—VERMILLION — Mitchell area high school track and field teams were in competition at the Dan Lennon Class B indoor meet hosted at the DakotaDome on Tuesday.

On the girls side, Lyman's Skyler Volmer won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 6 inches, as one of four athletes to clear 5 feet. Volmer also claimed second place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.65 seconds, while Burke's Piper Hanson was fourth at 9.94.

Chamberlain's Allison Hough finished third at 800 meters in 2:33.43, and Gregory's Asia VanDerWerff was fourth in 2:34.49. VanDerWerff also claimed third place at 400 meters in a time of 1:02.08.

Kinsey Evans, also of Chamberlain, was fifth at both 1600 and 3200 meters, posting times of 5:42.02 and 11:11.00, respectively.

In boys action, Gregory's Luke Sinclair crossed in second place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.69, as Canistota's Josiah Schroeder was fourth in 2:09.00. Schroeder also took third place at 1600 meters in 4:47.48.

Burke's Sawyer Tietgen had a third-place mark of 38 feet in the triple jump.

Gregory's Kade Stukel was fifth at 60 meters in 7.14 seconds. Stukel, Eli Fogel, Luke Stukel and Gannon Thomas comprised the fifth-place Gregory 4x400-meter relay, which posted a time of 3:49.57.
